Apple, Mac, & iPhone News...
November 19th, 2009
Morning folks,
We've had a little schedule change over here and now Thursday is the new Friday for us! We've got an awesome new release from Casio for you to check out and a great virtual stocking stuffer...it is about time we start giving you gift ideas, isn't it?
Casio EX-G1
If you have anyone in your life who could use a new digital camera this year, you already know how many options are on the market from consumer point and shoots to heavy duty DSLRs. The Casio EX-G1 is smack dab in the middle as far as photographic muscle, but the selling point is its compatability with an "endurance" lifestyle. Casio created this camera as the perfect gift for the person on your list who's a little, well, extreme. Have a skateboarder, biker or hiker? This camera's for them. A skiier or snowboarder? Ditto. A diver or snorkler? You get the idea.
The camera is resistant to "shock, dirt, humidity, snow, temperature and water," acording to its press release, and it's darn good looking too. Its slender profile hides a lot of power; 12.1 megapixels, and a 3X zoom lens round out the package. MSRP's $299.99. and it's worth every penny because it'll capture the extreme memories for the adventurer on your list.
Want More?
For lots more in depth reviews, check out MacTribe's newest issue on news stands now. We went through lots of categories, from video games to video nanos to accesories and apps. If you need a present, large or small, we promise you'll find the perfect something in our pages. If you're at a loss, just give The Beatles: Rock Band...we don't know anyone who wouldn't appreciate that!
Magic Mouse Fun
If you loved the idea of the Magic Mouse but were a little disappointed that it didn't feature full multi-touch technology like its iPhone and iPod touch friends...or know anyone who was...there is now an app for that. (Couldn't resist.)
MouseWizard is a $2.50 app that you download onto your Mac to expand the multi-touch functionality of your favorite new toy. The perfect virtual stocking stuffer? We're thinking yes. You have to keep the app open to keep the functionality going, but while it's up and running you can add a fourth click (one finger on the right edge, one on the left) middle click, a sleep function and our favorite zoom and shrink. The clicks and things are pretty self explanatory, but the sleep is cool too: you place your whole hand over the mouse and your Mac takes a nap. Simple. Easy. Smart. Download it here.
