EU Still Fighting to Ban Internet Explorer
After accusing Microsoft of basically having a monopoly on web browsers by including Internet Explorer in its Windows 7 package, the European Union has reason to be slightly mollified: Microsoft now has a “ballot screen” that allows users to choose which browser they’d like instead of forcing Internet Explorer on them until they can run and download Safari 4. Schmidt Resigns from Apple Board
When we were small, our parents reminded us to play nice, respect other people’s property and ideas, allow for different viewpoints. Well, kids, this ain’t the sandbox any more. Poor legislation and implementation thereof has contributed to a serious problem: the export of broken computers, TVs and other equipment to developing countries for scavenging. There are obvious chemical risks to the children and adults working the dump sites, where the waste is often burned, causing toxic smoke to blanket the piles of trash that could conceivably have been recycled and gifted to these developing countries to bring them up to speed technologically.
