Apple, Mac, & iPhone News...
December 30th, 2009
Morning, folks,
You know, sometimes we just like to give you a little something different to make sure that we all come up from the technology world for air...at least once in a while! Our pal Julia McKee sent in this capsule review of the movie Nine and we hope you enjoy it--we've thrown a little something in for you at the end too.
Nine
Starring: Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson, Sophia Loren, and Stacy Ferguson (that’s right. Fergie).
In A Nutshell:
This movie takes place in 1960s Italy where Guido Contini, a famous director, struggles to write a script for his ninth film when his once inspiring muses seem to cause him only chaos, misery, and writers block. Nine brings to light the age old predicament of whether you should let a career rule your life or the relationships around it and what happens when they blend together. If you don’t like movies with musical numbers in them then the cast, however star studded, might not save this for you. This film seems to be geared more towards hip grandparents then to the younger generations.
But men, do not despair! If you find yourself being dragged out to this film by your girlfriend, the dancing will keep you in your seats...in fact, watching Penelope Cruz, Fergie, and Marion Cotillard in their barely there lingerie may make you wish you'd had the forethought to come by yourself. Overall this movie was OK; it’s nothing that I’ll be waiting for to come out on DVD. The highlight of Nine is Penelope Cruz. The low point was the haphazard ending...but there's entertainment to be had if you love a good movie musical.

The Italian supreme court has revealed details of their decision to block BitTorrent sites: it's because the sites are involved in more of a significant role in people's downloads than, say, a site like Google which just gives you a ton of download options. The Italian court is concerned with copyright infringement, and they won't stop at sites registered just in Italy--copyright holders can now ask ISPs to filter out any BitTorrent site regardless of who owns or operates it. This is a really dangerous ruling, needless to say, as we can see copyright holders across the world preparing to make sure their content doesn't make it into new swarms any time soon.
