Apple In The News
Apple, Mac, & iPhone News...

July 28th 2009

With MacTribe's list of stories you'll never be at a loss for conversation starters this week!

  1. Nissan unveils iPhone App to monitor car’s batteries
The Japanese car manufacturer has created an app to allow users virtual access to their electric car’s battery when at a remote charging station. The app will allow drivers to see the level of charge in their battery, how long it will take to get up to full power, and the current temperature inside the vehicle, so power-sucking functions like blasting air conditioning and heating to get comfortable can be performed while the car is still attached to an outside power source...
  2. Geek Paradise: Star Wars comes to your Mac
This fall, Aspyr and LucasArts aim to satisfy the inner child in all of us by releasing “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.” Relive childhood memories of your favorite action stories but leave the plastic light sabers we know you still have in the closet…this Star Wars lets you play on your Mac. With new levels and characters—but the same kick-butt graphics—this “Ultimate Sith Edition” will bring a whole new dimension to your love for the classic story, whether you played the first version of “The Force Unleashed” or not.
  3. Apple Teams with Record Labels to Revolutionize Music Sales.
Seriously, do these guys ever stop working? In case you miss having all the lyrics, liner notes, and other goodies that came in the case when CDs were the only way to buy music—and we do!—iTunes is partnering with EMI, Warner Music, Universal Music Group and Sony Music to bring all of it back to you in digital form. The Financial Times reports the action is meant to boost online album sales, which make the record companies (and artists) more money than single song downloads. Is it enough to get you to buy full albums? It’s sure worth a shot.
  4. Rumor Mill: cameras for iPod touch?
We know, we know: it’s not news…yet. We get all worked up just thinking about it though, so here’s the latest gossip online: Macworld is reporting the next gen iPod touch and/or Nano could conceivably get a camera. Some sources speculate they may even get video recording capabilities! Only time will tell, but the ever reliable iPod case leak-o-meter shows protective cases with little, tiny, camera eye sized holes cut from the back…at the very least, we’ll be dreaming about an all-in-one media device. Support baseless gossip.
  5. Mactribe Summer Picks
mactribe news Cases, chargers and covers, oh my: it’s summer time and for us that means being out and about day and night. Our iPhones are coming along for the ride, that’s for sure, and these accessories make it easy, safe and comfortable to take your baby with you, whether you’re headed into the great outdoors or the concrete jungle.
